Job Summary
Building Secretary for DeTour Area Schools serves as the front-line administrative support to the Building Principal, managing the main office, handling attendance and student records, coordinating communications and events, and supporting substitute coordination, financial processes, and crisis/emergency procedures. Responsibilities include greeting visitors, managing phone communications, handling mail and logistics, maintaining student records, generating state/district compliance reports, calendar management for the Principal, coordinating substitutes, processing purchase orders, collecting student fees, and assisting with school events and emergency operations. Requires proficiency with MS Office/Google Workspace, experience with student information systems (e.g., Skyward), and a strong understanding of FERPA guidelines; plus ability to pass background and child abuse registry checks.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1-3 years clerical experience (preferably in a K-12 setting)
- Proficiency with MS Office/Google Workspace
- Experience with student management software (e.g., Skyward)
- Deep understanding of FERPA and student data privacy laws
- Criminal background check and child abuse registry clearance
