Job Summary

Deterministic Safety Analyst(s) to support the design of new nuclear power plants and operation/refurbishment of existing CANDU plants. Location in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Responsibilities include performing deterministic safety assessments for plant systems (e.g., HTS, Containment) and severe‐accident progression, analyzing postulated accidents with state-of-the-art methodologies and computer codes, developing safety-analysis approaches and analysis-basis plans, and delivering independent work aligned with project requirements. Plan, schedule, and coordinate engineering phases for major projects; address complex engineering challenges; assess feasibility and soundness of engineering methods; apply broad discipline knowledge and provide well-reasoned recommendations. Requires an honours degree in Engineering or Science, 1-8 years of experience, proficiency with Linux/Windows, knowledge of safety/licensing codes (CATHENA, NUCIRC, ADDAM, GOTHIC, MAAP), and willingness to travel. Strong English communication and QA commitment are essential.

Required Qualifications

  • A relevant honours degree in Engineering or Science from a recognized university
  • 1-8 years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency with Linux and WINDOWS environments is a strong asset
  • Broad knowledge of thermal-fluid sciences (fluid flow, heat transfers, multi-phase flow and thermodynamics)
  • Familiarity with safety and licensing computer codes such as CATHENA, NUCIRC, ADDAM, GOTHIC and MAAP
  • Proficiency in computer programming, especially FORTRAN, is desirable
  • Good knowledge of the CANDU design, with emphasis on HTS, plant control, containment and moderator systems is an asset
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to work well under pressure, be flexible, and adapt to changing project needs
  • Initiative and ability to work in a team; ability to work to budget and schedule
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to participate in meetings and workshops
  • Commitment to working in a formal QA environment
  • CV in English
