Job Summary
Responsible for detaining and processing arrested individuals, maintaining the welfare and security of prisoners and staff, and ensuring the humane treatment of inmates. Essential tasks include processing, detaining, and releasing arrested persons, preparing and serving meals, dispensing medications, monitoring Detention Center security, and preparing arraignment packets. Required skills include knowledge of constitutional rights, law enforcement policies, data management, and emergency response. A valid Texas driver's license and First Aid/CPR Certification are necessary.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
- No experience required
- Valid Class C Texas driver's license
- First Aid/CPR Certification or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
Desired Qualifications
- Up to 1 year experience as a detention officer or jailer in a government jail
