Job Summary
Supervise detention officers and inmates to guarantee security, wellbeing, and safety within the facility. Oversee booking procedures, ensure accurate documentation of arrests and incidents, and maintain daily reports and disciplinary records. Direct staff adherence to laws and policies while managing cell area cleanliness, repairs, and inspections-readiness. Administer prescribed medications, coordinate inmate transport to court, and manage visitations and communications. Review inmate complaints, grievances, and medical requests to make recommendations. Maintain proper supplies, food, and recreational/religious programs. Ensure facility security through proper station manning and collect receipts for bonds, fines, and fees.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or have passed the General Education Development (GED) testing
- Five (5) year related experience and/or training
- Three (3) year related management experience
- Arkansas Driver's License (or ability to immediately obtain license)
- No felony convictions
- U.S. citizen
- Jail Standards Certification (certified by the Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training (CLEST))
- Must be able to pass a physical fitness test semi-annually
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and policy/procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
- Ability to respond to complex or difficult inquiries or complaints
- Intermediate: Word Processing/Typing
- Basic: Accounting
- Regular use of highly complex machines and equipment
- Specialized or advanced software programs
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
- Close vision

- Ability to adjust focus
- Must be able to obtain CLEST certification within 1 year of employment or promotion
