Job Summary
Detailer Trainee position at CMC offering training across design-to-fabrication workflow in steel reinforcement and ground stabilization. Responsibilities include converting design data into placing drawings via MicroStation and rebar software, determining bar quantities and dimensions from design documents, preparing placing drawings for ironworkers, creating bar lists for fabrication, coordinating with contractors/engineers to obtain missing information, ensuring drawings are accurate for approval, meeting project deadlines, collaborating in a team environment, participating in planning meetings, and upholding safety and company policies.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Technologies preferred
- Ability to read and interpret contract documents
- Must be able to perform basic mathematics, algebra, and geometry
- Ability to use MS Word, MS Excel, Autodesk or Bentley CAD platforms
- Basic knowledge of rebar types, shapes size, and applications preferred
- Ability to use and understand basic linear measurements (i.e. feet inches, decimals, and metric system)
- Excellent customer relation skills
- Basic knowledge of structural concrete members and building systems
- Must be able to visualize three dimensionally (spatial visualization)
- Able to recognize colors
- Ability to use critical thinking skills to solve unique problems
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English
- Strong verbal and written skills
- High level of attention to detail
- Demonstrate good mechanical aptitude
