Job Summary
Set up and operate woodworking machines including table saws, jointers, and shapers to fabricate custom cabinets and wood products from raw materials. Review blueprints and mark dimensions on lumber stock to plan cutting sequences, then trim joints, bore holes, glue, fit, and clamp components together. Use hand tools such as routers and skill saws to reinforce joints and sand surfaces for finishing. Match materials for color and grain, estimate material take-offs, and maintain strict safety protocols while operating machinery in a loud, dusty environment. Work the assigned shift from 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with mandatory overtime as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Ability to work schedule as assigned
- Standing approximately 8-10 hours, 5 days a week, depending on business need, may be required to work 6 days/week depending on business need
- Fine motor abilities are needed to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls
- Specific vision abilities might be required by this job that include close vision, particularly reading that may be very fine print
- Regular twisting, bending, squatting, pushing, pivoting, and moving or lifting 10-15 pounds
- Employees will frequently lift and/or move 10-25 pounds while occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts such as saw blades
- Exposed to vibration from machines
- Noise level is loud and ear protection is on hand
- Employees may be exposed to hazardous chemicals in the workplace
- Sawdust is always present, and eye protection always required
- Safety glasses, safety shoes, and hearing protection (when needed) while on the production floor
- This position will also require the use of gloves and a respirator while spraying
- Safety rules must be followed
- Operating and maintenance instructions must be understood
- Procedure manuals must be understood
Desired Qualifications
- Two or more years of custom millwork and cabinetry working experience preferred
