Job Summary
Desktop Support Technician for NYC Emergency Management requiring in-person IT hardware/software support for desktop and laptop systems. Responsibilities include installing/testing computer systems and peripherals, troubleshooting software/hardware/OS issues, maintaining desktop images and inventory, coordinating IT-related planning and field IT support during large multi-agency incidents, coordinating with vendor support for AV and computing equipment, assisting with Ready NY presentations, and participating in drills. The role includes on-call EOC assignment with non-business hours during emergencies and required in-person presence three days per week; responsibilities also cover helpdesk ticket review/escalation, and collaboration with procurement staff on hardware/software purchases. Strong emphasis on knowledge of IT configurations, imaging, inventory integrity, and cross-agency coordination, with emphasis on security, reliability, and responsiveness.
Required Qualifications
- A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent or a bachelor’s/master’s degree from an accredited college in emergency management, public administration, urban planning, engineering, or related field with professional experience as listed
- six years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in emergency management, fire, police, public safety, public health, public administration, urban planning, engineering, or related areas for the high school path
- one year of professional experience in emergency management or related areas for higher-degree paths
