Job Summary
Monitor the service desk system for incoming requests and resolve or escalate computer hardware, software, and peripheral device issues remotely or onsite. Perform troubleshooting using diagnostic utilities and FAQ resources, applying fixes to resolve problems and conducting post-resolution follow-ups with end users. Execute preventative maintenance on devices and non-end user equipment, while assisting in software releases, roll-outs, and companywide projects. Document all problem-solving processes in service desk software and alert management to emerging incident trends. Handle escalated problems as required and participate in training tier I support staff.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or G.E.D or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Intermediate-level support staff with 2-4 years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of advanced computer hardware, including desktops, laptops, smartphones, and end user facing network configurations
- Experience with Microsoft Client Operating Systems
- Extensive application support experience with Microsoft Office suites and Office365 Applications
- Working knowledge of software and hardware diagnostic tools
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport-building, listening, and questioning skills
- Strong documentation skills
- Proficient in basic network fundamentals
- Ability to work independently onsite in our Overland Park Location
- Ability to escalate problems to higher level tier groups as required or to supervisor
- Ability to apply company approved diagnostic utilities to aid in troubleshooting
- Ability to access FAQ resources on the Internet/Intranet to aid in problem resolution
- Ability to perform trouble resolution fixes remotely or in person, including installing and upgrading software, installing hardware, and configuring systems and applications
- Ability to perform preventative maintenance, including checking and cleaning of end user devices, and non-end user IT equipment
- Ability to test fixes to ensure problem has been adequately resolved
- Ability to perform post-resolution follow ups with end user and team members as required
- Ability to alert management to emerging trends in incidents
- Ability to assist in software releases and roll-outs according to Change Management best practices
- Ability to adhere to site audit responsibility policies and procedures
- Ability to monitor service desk system for incoming requests and resolve or escalate accordingly
- Ability to provide technical assistance and support for incoming queries and issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware
- Ability to respond to queries either in person, via email or over the phone
- Ability to guide end users/clients through problem-solving process
- Ability to follow up with users to ensure issue has been resolved
- Ability to responsibly handle confidential data
- Ability to continuously improve upon technical skills sets within assigned areas of expertise
- Ability to assist in training of tier I support staff and in their day to day operations as needed
- Ability to assist in various projects assignment by management
- Ability to participate in company and department provided training
