Job Summary
Design and engineering services for diverse electrical utility projects, managing multiple concurrent projects from single-unit to large-scale complexes with strict adherence to Lighting, Overhead, and Underground standards. Utilize Geographical Information Systems and planning databases to generate accurate technical reports, calculations, and construction drawings while providing mentorship to peers and trainees. Maintain proficiency in pole loading software and AutoCAD, and demonstrate effective analytical and problem-solving skills in a collaborative team environment. This role requires up to 30% travel across remote regions and includes occasional lifting under less than 40lbs. The position is open to SPDP graduates or those with one or more years of experience in Electrical Utility Distribution/Transmission Design or Line Construction.
Required Qualifications
- graduate of the Service Planner Development Program (SPDP)
- 1+ years of experience in Electrical Utility Distribution/Transmission Design
- 1+ years of experience in Line Construction
- Experience in utility Geographical Information Systems
- Experience in planning database systems
- Experience in material ordering systems
- Technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of complex design issues
- proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- proficiency in Microsoft Word
- proficiency in Microsoft Outlook
- ability to demonstrate excellent values including teamwork
- ability to demonstrate good written and oral communication skills
- ability to demonstrate effective analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to travel up to 30% of the time
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with current utility industry GIS and WMIS programs as a Service Planner, Engineer, or equivalent field
- Demonstrated experience utilizing pole loading software such as SPIDA, O-Calc, or equivalent including overhead design and engineering principles
- Proven AutoCAD skills
- Proven AUD skills
- Proven Microstation skills
