Job Summary
Designs and oversees the construction, relocation, and new work for the Distribution function, using safety-focused practices and engineering standards to serve residential, commercial, and industrial requests. Responsible for coordinating with customers and stakeholders, ensuring regulatory compliance, reviewing bills and paperwork, handling permits and easements, and maintaining records. Travel to various off-site locations and participate in emergency/storm-related activities as needed. Requires an associate degree or equivalent experience, and the ability to work a flexible schedule with a mix of field and desk work. Proficiency in software tools (OMS, DDS, CREWS, SAP, MS Office) and the ability to interpret drawings and technical documents are expected.
Required Qualifications
- Associate Degree in a technical discipline OR High School diploma or equivalent with 2-6 years related work experience in utility design
- Pass the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) Technician Occupations Selection System (TECH) employment test
- Strong communication ability to guide decision-making or consensus, negotiate acceptable outcomes, and diffuse challenging situations
- Willing to seek guidance and advice to fill gaps in understanding
- Self-motivated and able to manage shifting priorities
- Able to interpret complex written and visual information, such as procedures, manuals, drawings, and schematics
- Able to gain working familiarity with standards, codes, regulations, electrical systems, construction methods, equipment, and safety requirements
- Able to gain proficiency in software applications includingMicrosoft Office, SAP, CREWS, OMS, and DDS
- Willing to participate in emergency and storm-related activities and work additional hours as necessary
- Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a personal vehicle for commuting to facilities and locations
