Job Summary

Designer III at Perkins&Will North Carolina studio responsible for advancing design through schematic design, design development, and construction documents. The role involves developing creative design concepts, coordinating drawings, material selections, and presenting design concepts to clients. You will analyze product research, participate in design reviews, charettes, and pin-ups, and ensure document accuracy and code compliance. Collaborates with partners and consultants, supports the growth of team members, and maintains proactive, inspiring communication. Requires 5+ years of experience, a Bachelor’s degree in architecture or related discipline, and portfolio submission. Licensure is not required to start, but obtaining an architectural license will authorize a title change to Architect III. LEED GA within 6 months of hire and professional accreditation in Living Design are preferred, with ARE/Axp preparation and ongoing involvement. Proficiency in BIM, Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper, 2D/3D production software, and visualization/presentation tools (Enscape, VRay, InDesign, Photoshop) is expected, along with strong site analysis, life-safety, and contract-document skills. Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture or related discipline required
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Portfolio submission required with resume
  • LEED GA within 6 months of hire
  • Professional accreditation in one area of Living Design or equivalent (e.g., LEED AP with Specialty, BREEAM AP, WELL AP, SITES AP, CPHC/CPHD, ILFI Living Future Accreditation)
  • ARE preparation and active involvement in AXP
  • Ability to obtain architectural licensure and title change to Architect III upon licensure
  • Proficiency in BIM and 2D/3D production software
  • Experience with schematic design through construction documents
  • Strong client and non-client presentation skills
  • Coordination of drawings and documentation across design phases
  • Coordination with consultants and partners
  • Strong graphic storytelling and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper, Enscape, VRay, InDesign, Photoshop
  • Site analysis, life safety, and code compliance knowledge
  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture or related discipline required
  • Understanding of project delivery manual and document control
