Job Summary
Design electrical substation physical drawings from single line diagrams and manipulate 2D drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, or Autodesk Map 3D. Create accurate designs that adhere to IEEE Standards, National Electric Safety Code, and OSHA practices while utilizing document management systems like TEAMS, MAXIMO, and Autodesk Vault. Manage multiple projects with competing deadlines using Primavera (P6) and progress reporting software, ensuring mistake-free designs and operational excellence. Mentor team members, communicate technical issues simply, and maintain a safety-first, customer-focused approach to delivering value.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering with minimum 4 years relevant industry experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology with minimum 4 years relevant industry experience
- Associate Degree with minimum 8 years relevant industry experience
- High school diploma with minimum 15 years relevant industry experience
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office products
- Must demonstrate excellent communication skills (oral & written) and the ability to communicate technical issues simply
- Must be a self-starter and exhibit strong problem-solving skills
- Must work well in a team environment and have the ability to develop and build relationships at all levels
- Must possess effective time management and organizational skills sufficient to manage multiple projects with various priorities and competing deadlines
- Must demonstrate a customer focus with a willingness to meet the needs of our customers and solicit feedback
- Must have the ability to be an effective mentor to others and teach job-related skills
- Must accurately enter weekly time and process business expense receipts promptly
- Must be able to envision equipment/materials and how they connect spatially inside three dimensional space
- Must place strong emphasis on Operational Excellence (mistake free designs)
Desired Qualifications
- Strong understanding of electrical substation equipment
- Experience in Transmission and/or Distribution Substation Operations for an electric power utility company
- Good understanding of utility electric grid operations
- Knowledge of basic electrical power system theory
- Strong understanding of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Standards, National Electric Safety Code, National Electric Code, and OSHA safe operating practices
- Ability to create electrical Substation Physical drawings from a single line diagram
- Ability to create/manipulate 2D drawings and 3D models for electrical Substations
- AutoCAD training, experience, or certification
- Experience using 3D modeling software (Autodesk Inventor or Autodesk Map 3D [P4A])
- Experience working with document management & estimating systems such as Transmission Estimating and Management System (TEAMS), STOMP, MAXIMO, SCST Vault, Autodesk Vault Professional 2023
- Experience using Primavera (P6), progress reporting software
