Job Summary
Produce and review overhead and underground distribution design packages, preparing construction drawings, materials inventory, voltage drop calculations, and GIS maps. Apply knowledge of electric utility design standards and codes to ensure technically sound designs, reviewing documents for accuracy and addressing discrepancies with clear justifications. Identify trends or new issues, communicate potential solutions to management, and provide technical support to junior designers while maintaining compliance with company and client standards.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED Equivalent
- 1-3+ years of experience in Electric utility design within new business and/or system hardening
- Experience with design and analysis for Overhead and Underground projects
- Proficiency in calculating voltage drop and flicker
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations
- Proficiency using O-Calc and AutoCAD design software
- Proficiency using the Microsoft Office Suite
- Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to provide technical support to junior designers
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.A. on a full-time basis without sponsorship
- Ability to pass a pre-authorized physical including a drug-screening and background check
- 3-5+ years of experience in electrical utility design
- In-depth knowledge of industry standards and regulations
- Experience using SAP software
- Experience providing technical support to junior designers
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Up to 20% travel within CA
- Remote in Pleasanton, Bakersfield, or San Diego CA
