Job Summary
Design tooling for large injection moulded parts including fascias, rockers, claddings, and wheel flares while adhering to quality systems like MAFACT and ISO-9001. Manage single tool design projects, conduct internal and external design reviews, and prepare engineering change files for internal and outsourced teams. Collaborate with estimating managers to develop new tooling quotes, analyze department statistics, and assist in benchmarking equipment for the global tooling initiative. Complete part feasibility studies to ensure design for manufacture considerations and work with the Design Team Leader to provide key date timing feedback. Mentor trainees and L1/L2 team members while participating in daily reviews of safety, quality, cost, and efficiency metrics.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum completion of Grade 12 diploma
- College diploma / University degree in a relevant technical field
- Equivalent experience
- Successfully completed the training matrix for Designer Level 2
- Strong working knowledge of Siemens NX Mold Wizard in all facets of tool design
- Strong mathematical aptitude
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Strategic thinker with demonstrated ability to effectively solve problems
- Results-oriented and able to work under pressure
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office e.g. Word and Excel
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Well-developed organizational and time management skills
- Must be a team player who is self-motivated with a positive attitude
- Must be service oriented and display attitudes which support Tycos Tool & Die philosophies and goals
