Job Summary
Manage overall daily operations of the grocery department and assist the Store Manager in overseeing the entire store location. Control budgeted sales, gross, and net profit goals while keeping labor, supplies, and expenses at expected levels. Supervise and develop grocery and store personnel, ensuring a friendly, properly staffed, and well-trained environment. Maintain product quality, freshness, and cleanliness; oversee inventory levels, retail pricing, and back room conditions including dairy coolers and walk-in freezers. Enforce safety, security, and health department rules, monitor alcohol and tobacco sales, and handle complaints or issues reported from customers and associates. Complete vital department reports, attend weekly meetings, and enforce all company policies regarding labor guidelines, loss prevention, and confidentiality.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- High School graduate
- Three to five years experience in retail operations
- Operating as a department manager for at least one year
- Ability to meet standard Physical, Mental, and Visual demands
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions
- Ability to perform routine and repetitive tasks
- Ability to have constant contact/interaction with various levels of individuals on a daily basis
- Ability to attend on-site work during scheduled shifts
- Must have completed the Designated Assistant Manager Training Program
