Job Summary
Design Technician Trainee (Indirect) at Builders FirstSource pursuing a 16-week intensive Truss Designer training program. Under supervision, you’ll complete the 16-week program, read and interpret blueprints, prepare basic roof/floor truss designs with senior designers, enter design parameters into specialized software, review plans for accuracy, produce truss placement layouts for construction, provide job-site support, learn pricing methods, and prepare for certification tests. Associates degree in a related field or equivalent field experience in construction/design shops is preferred; framing experience is a plus. The role develops toward capable design of simple one-story structures upon completion of training.
Required Qualifications
- Associates degree in a directly related field or equivalent field experience in Construction or Design shops. Prior shop experience and/or construction knowledge strongly preferred. Framing experience is a plus.
