Job Summary
Design Technician I (entry-level) at Nueces Electric Cooperative, focused on staking distribution lines, preparing work sketches for member services, and designing NEC distribution facilities per RUS/NESC standards while ensuring safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance. Requires outdoor work in varying weather, proficiency with PCs, ability to interpret blueprints and staking sheets, and collaboration with members, employees, and the public. Travel within the NEC service area and completion of TEC Hi-Line Staking Program for certification are required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Associate Degree
- two to three years of relevant experience and training, or a similar role
- experience working outdoors in extreme weather conditions
- strong verbal and written communication skills
- proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn utility-specific software
- ability to interpret and work from blueprints, staking sheets, and electrical standards
- availability for all assignments and travel within the NEC service area
- must complete TEC's Hi-Line Staking Program to attain certification as a Certified Staking Technician
- Valid Class C Texas Driver's License
