Job Summary
Design Technician I - Design for Indirect: responsible for creating designs and drawings from customer orders or information from design managers, collaborating with outside sales and customers, ensuring stability and code-compliant designs, following quality control procedures, preparing design modifications, developing layouts from concepts, sketching and arranging finished drawings, writing technical descriptions of materials and properties, reviewing designs for efficient use of inventory, equipment, and labor, and supporting continuous improvement. Works with PrimeCad, MS Word, MS Excel, and AutoCAD; requires associate degree or equivalent experience; physical duties include potential lifting and working in varied environments.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Competencies: Preferably experience with PrimeCad, MS Word, MS Excel, and AutoCAD; Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
