Job Summary

Design electric and gas facilities by creating construction plans, drawings, and cost estimates for residential, retail, and commercial projects. Develop layouts for primary lines, equipment, and services while maintaining GIS data models and evaluating existing specifications. Perform utility calculations, digitize maps, and acquire field measurements to support project documentation and stakeholder communication. Open energized equipment to verify connections and collect technical data in accordance with CoServ design standards and safety protocols. Execute moderately scoped problems with minimal guidance, ensuring accuracy in bills of materials and permitting while complying with local codes and regulatory procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D equivalency
  • Associate's degree or equivalent with a focus in Engineering, Geography, or Business AND 2 years of work experience
  • 4 years of utility experience
  • Understands basic GIS principles and practices
  • Ability to enter data quickly, correctly, and efficiently
  • Understands and follows maps, system maps, grid map and line design books and manuals
  • Willingness to obtain certification/training in opening energized equipment for engineering purposes
  • Ability to follow rules in employee handbook
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be self-motivated, take ownership of job responsibilities, and be proactive in seeking solutions
  • Able to work both in a team and independently when required
  • Comfortable with working repetitive processes
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong investigative and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Must have and maintain a valid Texas driver's license
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Ability to drive as needed

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geography, or Business AND 2 years equivalent utility experience
  • Proficiency in layout and design of electric and gas facilities for residential, multifamily, and commercial projects
  • Knowledge of Electric and Gas distribution systems
  • Knowledge of opening energized equipment for engineering purposes
