Job Summary
Design Studies Undergraduate Education Director leads the redevelopment and strategic direction of the Bachelor of Design Studies program, conducting options analysis for flexible degree options (three- or four-year tracks) to meet accreditation standards and market demand. Responsibilities include coordinating with Design Studies and related programs, preparing and presenting curricular options to Academic Affairs and senior leadership, managing the Sustainable Design continuing education certificate, overseeing the development and operation of BDS curriculum, shaping assessment and quality controls for courses, ensuring accreditation readiness and compliance, supporting institutional accreditation processes (e.g., NECHE, MA Board of Higher Education), leading adjunct faculty hiring and development, fostering student community and retention, and representing the BDS program externally through published materials and accreditation communications. The role requires collaboration across college divisions, strong project management, and the ability to work evenings and weekends as needed. Educational leadership, program development, and public-facing responsibilities are central to this position.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum master’s degree in a relevant discipline, education, design or environmental subject matter (with practical and/or professional experience preferred)
- Education leadership responsibilities including academic leadership for Design Studies Bachelor of Degree Studies program
- oral and written communication skills; ability to collaborate across multiple departments
- Ability to teach course or courses totaling six (6.0) credits per year
- Work hours including evenings and weekends according to the College schedule
