Design Release Engineer - Thermal

Job Summary
Lead product development activities for thermal components and subsystems and manage the design release of active-thermal hardware such as heat exchangers, cooling fans, shrouds, compressors, and sensors. Develop and release components to meet requirements (SOR, CTS, SSTS); conduct design studies and analyses; define ICD requirements and negotiate with interfacing components; manage supplier relationships and coordinate cross-functional activities; support PDT meetings and peer reviews; ensure complete validation of released components and establish a validation plan; apply analytical tools (FEA, CFD, modal analysis, virtual builds); stay aligned with GM standards and drive cross-program continuous improvement. The role requires a Bachelor’s in engineering, at least 5 years of relevant design/release experience, strong thermal/HVAC/fluid handling knowledge, CAD/engineering tool proficiency, travel up to 20%, and collaborative cross-functional leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Thermal Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of experience in component or subsystem design and release
- Strong understanding of thermal systems, HVAC, and fluid handling components
- Proficiency in CAD (UGNX preferred), Teamcenter, and engineering analysis tools
- Experience with validation planning and execution
- Strong communication and project management skills
- Ability to travel (up to 20%) and legally operate a motor vehicle
