Design Release Engineer, Modular R&D

$164,000–$206,000 year

On-siteAustin, Texas, United States

Full TimeSmall

Job Summary

Own the release process from engineering to production, ensuring drawings, BOMs, and specs are complete, approved, and released to manufacturing at the right revision. Administer ECOs and ECNs to control revision history and disposition changes across units in build, inventory, and supplier orders. Maintain BOM integrity by syncing the PLM system of record to ERP and MES, resolving discrepancies between as-designed, as-built, and as-maintained configurations. Gate release readiness by confirming drawing checks, tolerance completeness, and DFM feedback before deployment. Drive release communication across design, supply chain, quality, and production to prevent building to stale revisions.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience owning release or configuration management for manufactured hardware (modules, vehicles, machinery, or similar serialized products)
  • Experience administering ECOs across live production
  • Ability to dispose a change across units already in build, sitting in inventory, and already shipped, including deciding effectivity and living with the consequences
  • Experience ensuring BOMs reconcile: as-designed, as-built, and as-maintained stay in sync
  • Ability to catch immature releases before the floor does (incomplete drawings, missing tolerances, unspecified requirements)
  • Experience untangling an as-designed vs. as-built mess at a company scaling faster than its release discipline

Desired Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with PLM platforms (Arena, Teamcenter, Windchill)
  • Experience with ERP and MES integration (NetSuite, SAP, or similar)
  • Knowledge of drawing standards (ASME Y14.5)
  • Manufacturing or quality engineering background
