Job Summary
Lead design release for current and future switch assemblies by developing package concepts, initiating Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), and preparing Engineering Change Work Orders. Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to resolve manufacturing or field issues, manage validation test plans, and present design alternatives to management for decision-making. Track change requests, issue tracking, and coordinate component design with vehicle changes while ensuring project timing and part availability.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Strong interpersonal skills: ability to work within GM, suppliers, and with program teams
- Ability to prioritize and balance multiple activities
- Hands-on vehicle working experience
- Ability to self-motivate / self-direct
- Problem-solving proficiency
- Knowledge and experience with design release system and process, manufacturing process, and vehicle validation process
- Design for Six Sigma training and experience
- Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle on a daily basis
