Design Quality Assessment Lead Engineer

Job Summary
Lead and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance the quality, efficiency, and reliability of EV design by analyzing existing processes and deploying best practices. Conduct daily inspection activities, follow up on program gates and deliverables, and audit processes to raise non-compliant items for leadership review before project gate decisions. Act in a preventive approach by inspecting engineering activities across all product development phases to ensure standards compliance. Guide engineering teams to resolve issues found during audits and capture learnings across model development to apply cross-model continuous improvement. Establish and maintain process documentation, including flowcharts and standard operating procedures, while applying problem-solving tools like 8D and Six Sigma for root cause analysis.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical / automotive engineering
- 5+ years' experience in the automotive industry with Quality and Product development areas
- Strong portfolio showcasing high-quality design projects
- Strong background with Quality management activities, Internal Audits, Problem Solving, Continuous improvement, quality assurance
- Experienced in Problem Solving Tools for root cause analysis, application of Containment, Permanent and Preventive actions (8D, PDCA, Quality Tools)
- Product and Process Improvements (Six Sigma, Kaizen, SPC and other improvements tools)
- Strong knowledge of DFMEA, DVP, Design standards, and Engineering Change processes
- Good Technical knowledge on vehicle systems and vehicle development activities (CAE, CAD, Attributes, Homologation and safety requirements, DVP&R)
- Establish and maintain process documentation, including flowcharts, work instructions, and standard operating procedures
- Project Management (PMBOK, Project development gates / milestones / deliverables) knowledge is desired
Desired Qualifications
- Certification in quality management or quality assurance (e.g., Six Sigma, ISO 9001, IATF16949) is a plus
- Desired familiarity with Agile methodologies and project management tools
- User level knowledge of Teamcenter and Atlassian Jira (desired)
