Job Summary
Oversee preparation and final approval of project contract documents from third-party design consultants while ensuring designs meet schedule and budget constraints. Supply engineering expertise for existing facilities, develop and maintain equipment specifications for owner-furnished and contractor-installed systems, and support procurement through vendor submittal reviews and factory witness testing. Maintain legacy basis of design documents, assist with new designs for emerging needs, and implement new technologies to maximize energy and cost efficiency. Communicate engineering policies, standards, and security measures across teams and stakeholders. Operate primarily in active data center construction environments, requiring the ability to walk, stand, and lift up to 50 pounds while navigating uneven terrain and third-party controlled areas. Requires a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, 7+ years in data center design, and expertise in diesel generators, BESS, and switchgear.
Required Qualifications
- Expertise in diesel engine standby generators, uninterruptible power, switchgear and overhead busway
- Lithium BESS understanding
- Minimum of 7 years' experience in the design of data centers and specification of electrical equipment for mission-critical facilities
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Valid driver's license appropriate for the role and eligibility to operate a motor vehicle in accordance with applicable laws
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in a professional work environment, including preparing written reports and documentation, conveying information clearly to team members, clients, and stakeholders, and responding appropriately to verbal and written communications related to job duties
- Physical ability to walk, stand, stoop, twist, bend, and climb stairs or ladders for extended periods while navigating uneven, unpaved, or obstructed terrain
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis
- Ability to drive between job sites and access all areas of an active construction zone, including raised platforms, scaffolding, and confined spaces
- Ability to tolerate exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dust, and construction-related noise, vibrations, and odors
- Ability to communicate effectively with contractors, engineers, and site personnel, and maintain situational awareness in high-activity environments
- Sufficient visual acuity to read drawings, specifications, and safety signage, and to observe site activity
- Willingness to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety vests, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots
