Job Summary
Design Manager for data centre projects based in Vilvoorde, Belgium. Lead coordination of the design team (internal and external) to deliver high-quality, cost- and time-efficient design solutions across power, cooling, IT, security, and Firefighting systems; ensure integration with CSA (Civil, Structural, Architectural) aspects; oversee design development from inception through RIBA stages, producing accurate construction documents, and supporting ESG certifications (e.g., BREEAM, LEED). Manage appointed engineering firms and consultants, lead cost/time-benefit analyses, and provide design input to balance end-user requirements with project constraints. Drive QA/QC reviews, ensure collaboration with project managers, schedulers, cost managers, and external firms, and maintain alignment between OPR and construction documents. Requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving with a proven track record in hyperscale or colocation data centres; proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, MS Office, and project tools; PM certifications (PMP/PgMP) are a plus.
Required Qualifications
- Master Degree in Engineering (Building, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, IT)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in data centres design, focusing on CSA and MEP systems development
- Experience leading complex multi-disciplinary design teams and managing new construction, tenant improvements, and capital improvement projects
- Proven expertise in consultant negotiation and contract management
- PMP or PgMP certification is a plus
