Design Manager-Data Center Construction

Job Summary
Lead project set-up and end-to-end design delivery for data centre projects, ensuring alignment with programme, budget, and technical requirements. Coordinate and manage multi-disciplinary consultant teams while chairing cross-functional design reviews and governing in-house design engineering guidelines. Control and report on project cost and schedule, oversee change control activities including contracts and invoice approvals, and provide technical leadership by resolving escalated RFIs and managing submittals. Co-manage commissioning activities and Integrated Systems Testing to support safe project handover, while championing buildability, safety, and quality across the lifecycle. Produce monthly project reporting and pipeline metrics, ensuring standard designs are agreed at key milestones.
Required Qualifications
- Corporate member of HKIE in building services /mechanical engineering /electrical engineering or equivalent with design background
- Strong mission critical building delivery experience
- Multi-disciplinary design environment experience
- Data centre design experience
- Experience of highly serviced building designs within the mission critical sector
- Familiar with MEP driven fit-out works
- Ability to clearly explain and communicate complex technical issues
- Confidently defending design decisions with senior internal and external stakeholders
- Able to work proactively and collaboratively with project teams, contractors and other specialists in a multi‐stakeholder environment
- Ability to navigate competing project pressures
- Assessing solution options against cost, risk, schedule and quality impacts
- Organised in developing and appraising technical solutions
- Operating effectively within a process‐orientated framework
- Operating effectively within a fast‐paced environment
- Familiar with processes project gateway and change control
Desired Qualifications
- Design background is preferred
- Data centre design experience is preferred
- Experience of highly serviced building designs within the mission critical sector
- Familiar with MEP driven fit-out works and other key technical areas relevant to the data centre industry
- Familiar with processes project gateway and change control as a client or client representative is preferred
