DESIGN MANAGER

Job Summary
Oversee all design functions and manage several designers while improving the company's design process to deliver high-quality professional solutions. Compile comprehensive contract documents, including plans and specifications, and conduct site visits to take off existing building systems for plan & spec and design-build projects. Perform heat load calculations using updated software, develop value engineering ideas, and support project management teams in creating estimates and increasing profitability. Train support staff on constructability and design methods, maintain PE stamps in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island, and build productive relationships with owners, architects, and subcontractors.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to read plans and specifications
- Competent knowledge of all contract documents
- Display competence in developing optimum work methods
- Display competent knowledge and understanding of codes, industry standards, plumbing systems and mechanical systems
- Maintain or acquire PE stamp in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island
- Have knowledge of what estimate consists of including take-off equipment buy-out and subcontractor selection
- Have an understanding of how projects are handled
- Understanding systems and layout within a building envelope
- Ability to perform heat load calculations using the latest software
- Ability to maintain software updates for design and engineering programs

- Willingness to obtain other state licenses if needed
