Job Summary

Execute geo-structural engineering tasks including performing engineering analyses for deep foundations and retaining structures, conducting limit equilibrium and finite element stability modeling, and developing design documents. Support foundation, retaining wall, and civil construction by applying advanced engineering principles to solve complex problems under the direct oversight of a Professional Engineer. Interface with multi-disciplinary project teams, manage field subcontractor activities for drilling and testing, and occasionally visit project sites across North America. Submit written reports and communicate findings professionally to project management and construction personnel.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals in Engineering (FE) certification with an interest in obtaining Professional Engineer licensure in one or multiple states
  • 1 to 4 years design experience in the geotechnical, structural, transmission, or substation engineering field as a intern, junior engineer, or as part of a co-op or collaboration program
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams
  • Ability to work with moderate supervision and maximum efficiency in a small or medium size office setting
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs at times
  • Must be able to bend, lift, climb, and walk on uneven surfaces
  • Must be available for up to 25% of the work year for travel based on seasonal and project requirements

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's degree in geotechnical engineering or engineering geology
  • Familiarity with use and application of systems such as the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS), International Society of Rock Mechanics (ISRM) rock quality scale, and other published geotechnical standards of practice
  • Familiarity with the use of the following computer software: LPILE, GROUP, FAD, GRLWeap, SHAFT, APILE and SLIDE, RS2, Plaxis, RISA, INVENTOR, or SPColumn
