Job Summary
Design Engineer creates CAD solid models and layouts for customized material handling equipment (in-floor lift systems, portable jack systems, and similar products) to meet defined performance requirements. Responsibilities include designing weldments with supporting calculations, producing dimensional detail drawings with BOMs, integrating OEM components into overall equipment, validating design envelopes, reviewing colleagues' drawings, and supporting manufacturing with technical guidance and troubleshooting. Requires proficiency with Solidworks, AutoCAD/Draftsight, and MS Office; ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings; experience sizing structural steel and welds; strong communication skills; willingness to travel; and adherence to safety procedures. The role participates in continuous improvement activities within the product equipment group.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree including BSME, BSMET
- 2-5 years of professional design experience
- Solidworks 3D CAD
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical prints
- MS Office proficiency
- Welding and weldments design knowledge
- Ability to travel
- PPE usage as required
