Job Summary
Design Engineer - Tanks at Muncie Power is responsible for the design and development of fabricated metal components and assemblies for hydraulic reservoir products. Create and maintain detailed 3D models and 2D drawings, manage engineering changes and revision control throughout the product lifecycle, and coordinate with manufacturing to optimize for manufacturability, quality, and cost. Provide support for production equipment programming (including CNC laser cutting and plasma table), develop and maintain BOMs and engineering documentation, and collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and sales teams. Maintain engineering release documentation (ERNs/ECNs), assist with first article inspections, and support project management. Maintain accurate engineering records in the ERP system and perform other related duties as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline
- 2-3 years of experience in mechanical design, detailing, drafting, and engineering documentation (preferred)
- Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and 2D drawing using SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, and AutoCAD
- Working knowledge of metal fabrication processes (welding, cutting, forming, assembly)
- Experience with ERP systems to manage BOMs and product structures
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
