Job Summary
Design Engineer – Buildings, responsible for the design, configuration, and release of MXS building products (concrete and metal structures) from concept through production release. Leads 3D assembly modeling, product releases, engineering change management, and NPI. Develops and maintains engineering documentation, specifications, drawings, and BOMs; ensures manufacturability and compliance with design standards and applicable codes. Collaborates with Manufacturing Engineering and external structural firms; drives cross-functional design reviews, and supports production, quality, and field engineering issues. Leads continuous improvement in product design and release processes. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field and ~5+ years of engineering experience; proficiency with Autodesk Inventor (SolidWorks acceptable), GD&T, and design-for-manufacturing. Relocation assistance is offered.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related engineering discipline
- 5+ years of mechanical or multi-discipline engineering experience preferred
- Experience with modular buildings, structural systems, panelized construction, or related industries strongly preferred
- Experience with engineering change processes and formal product release environments
- Experience preparing packages for external structural review
- Proficiency with CAD tools (Autodesk Inventor; SolidWorks acceptable)
- Strong understanding of GD&T and engineering drawing standards
- Experience in design-for-manufacturing and manufacturing environment
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
