Job Summary
Design Engineer responsible for designing low-voltage systems (AV, security, telecom) from concept to final product; develop specification requirement documents; meet with clients virtually (and sometimes in-person) to review project scope, validate budgets, and present design/build capabilities; generate low-voltage plans and markups; collaborate with Senior Design Engineer, System Engineers, and Sales to deliver solutions; stay informed on AV, security, IT/networking technologies; manage procurement considerations and documentation; contribute to design/build process and client relationships; ensure designs align with client needs and project budgets; maintain standard operating procedures and project deliverables; this role emphasizes client engagement, design documentation, and cross-functional collaboration.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years’ experience designing low-voltage systems
- Working knowledge and /or certification with electronic security manufacturers such as Motorola (Avigilon), Axis, Vivotek, Brivo, Verkada, and Genetec, Commercial AV systems like Crestron, Extron, Atlona, Biamp, and QSC, general knowledge and connectivity of IT/Data systems including switches, firewalls, access points, and a general understanding of low voltage technology systems
- Demonstrated experience with AutoCAD/Revit not required, but a plus
- Experience with network security and networking technologies
- Thorough understanding and knowledge of latest technology principles, techniques, and protocols
- Problem solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and in a growing department of our business
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- Excellent resourcefulness and ability to adjust around procurement delays and changes in technology are a must
