Job Summary
Gathers and reviews sales process documentation, sketches, renderings, and customer drawings to fully understand project expectations. Coordinates with project management, sales staff, and customers to define design intent and develop creative build strategy concepts. Uses visual communication mediums including hand sketch, SketchUp, SolidWorks, and Adobe Suite to convey design concepts and produce detailed CAD models for manufacturing operations. Collaborates with engineering, production, and vendor resources to verify fixture build strategies and explore new creative solutions while balancing independent design work with resource collaboration. Maintains records using document control processes and proactively communicates project status and challenges.
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years of design drafting experience in wood, metal, and plastic product manufacturing
- Degree in design (architectural, industrial, engineering) or equivalent experience
- Experience in the full design process, from concept through manufacturing
- Proficient in 3D Solid Modeling software, preferably SolidWorks
- Ability to clearly communicate production details through drawings
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work productively and creatively with limited supervision
- Ability to accept critiques and make changes accordingly
- Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines
- Excellent visual communication skills
- Readily exercises discretion and independent judgment when performing job-related duties
- Flexibility to travel between multiple PD locations
Desired Qualifications
