Job Summary
Technical Designer (in-person) at One Hat One Hand to develop clear, constructible 3D design concepts and supporting visualizations; produce accurate technical drawing sets for clients, engineers, and fabrication teams; coordinate with internal production, finishing, and metal departments; generate documentation for coordination with external consultants and permitting; create cut files and CNC-ready documents for fabrication and vendors; contribute to design decks and visual storytelling; participate in project planning meetings and stakeholder communication; coordinate material sourcing and track purchases against project estimates. Requires professional experience in technical design for architecture/industrial design/stagecraft, strong fabrication background, proficiency with Rhino/CAD/Sketchup/Vectorworks/V-Ray/Enscape/Blender/Unreal, knowledge of wood/steel/aluminum/acrylic/plastics/casting/finishing, experience with CNC/laser/waterjet/3D printing, and LED lighting design, wiring, and programming; excellent communication and problem-solving skills; willingness to travel and adapt to deadlines.
Required Qualifications
- Professional experience in technical design for architecture, industrial design, or stagecraft and event production
- Strong custom fabrication background and knowledge of construction methodologies and best practices
- Proficient with Rhino, CAD, Sketchup, Vectorworks, V-Ray, Enscape, Blender, or Unreal; ability to create precise technical drawings and 3D visualizations
- Experience producing construction documentation and drawings for clients, engineers, and fabrication teams
- Experience coordinating with internal production, finishing, and metal departments throughout project lifecycles
- Experience with CNC, laser cutting, waterjet, and 3D printing; knowledge of cut files and fabrication-ready documents
- Experience with graphics packages for printing on various materials; LED lighting design, wiring, and programming
- Ability to problem-solve and communicate clearly; project planning and stakeholder communication
- Willingness to travel and work during evenings, weekends, or extended hours when required
- Strong collaboration and presentation design capabilities
