Job Summary
Design catwalks, platforms, crossovers, and stainless steel safety enclosures for the food and beverage industry in AutoCAD while interpreting and marking up manufacturing line drawings. Conduct site audits, complete facility surveys, and participate in on-site bid meetings to assess job site accessibility and identify installation issues. Review customer RFS/RFP packages, communicate with vendors and contractors, and develop permit drawings for city and county submittal. Create project schedules, manage material and equipment costs, and handle product changes to meet customer and safety requirements. Travel 20% of the time to client locations, requiring adherence to safety gear in noisy, variable environments. Full-time role with occasional weekend work.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent number of years of experience
- Three (3) to five (5) years of design engineering experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Two (2) years of experience in AutoCAD
- Occasional work on weekends
- Frequent travel (about 20% of the position)
- Ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds
- Safety shoes, safety vests, and safety glasses, as well as ear protection
- Hair nets and beard nets
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in mechanical engineering
- Technical knowledge and practical project management experience
- Two (2) years of relevant experience in a high-speed packaging, equipment sales, or system design environment
- Manufacturing field experience, especially in the food and beverage industry
- Background in a production environment as a project engineer, maintenance manager, and/or production manager
- Two (2) years of experience in SolidWorks
- Bilingual speaker (English and Spanish)
