Job Summary
Lead design activities for residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional structures impacted by disasters, ensuring compliance with industry standards, building codes, and company expectations. Act as the liaison with clients, contractors, building owners, and officials to resolve complex technical matters, while verifying on-site measurements, preparing rough sketches, and authenticating reporting and permit drawings. Validate structural designs and draft detailed restoration drawings using Autodesk Revit, review drafters' work for quality and consistency, and ensure all team members adhere to safety protocols and PPE usage. Continuously monitor departmental processes to enhance efficiency and address performance concerns promptly. Maintain a valid Ontario Class "G" driver's license and work in a hybrid environment based in Etobicoke with flexible remote options.
Required Qualifications
- University degree in civil/structural engineering (P. Eng) or a related field.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in structural design, with specific expertise in wood frame construction.
- Extensive experience with Parts 3,4 & 9 of the Ontario building code.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and CAD software.
- Strong technical acumen and ability to oversee projects.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License and access to a properly insured vehicle.
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment, including our office based in Etobicoke, plus site visits if required.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience managing a team is an asset.
- Hands-on construction/site experience in residential and commercial wood frame construction is an asset.
