Job Summary
Design Engineer - In Service Repair at Airbus Americas, based in Wichita, KS, responsible for designing repair solutions for aircraft structures, including both metallic and non-metallic parts, to satisfy airworthiness requirements. Collaborates with static stress and fatigue teams to develop efficient repair concepts, researches aircraft configurations, and creates/modifies technical documents such as Repair Instructions, Repair Drawings, and technical communications using Airbus toolsets. Plays a key role in interfacing repair requirements with customers and suppliers, supporting simple to routine repair tasks, and ensuring work aligns with customer time scales. Requires BS in Engineering and 5+ years in airframe design/repair, with experience in metallic/composite repairs, and proficiency with tools like SAP and AirDoc; capable of reading engineering drawings and BOMs and communicating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering (Aero, Civil, Mechanical) with a strong curriculum emphasis on structural design and analysis and mechanics of materials is required.
- 5+ years total design experience in airframe design and repair projects.
- Experience in metallic and/or composite airframe structural repair.
