Job Summary
Design Engineer III for Airbus Americas, on-site in Wichita, KS, supporting the airline in-service fleet with repairs of aircraft structures. Responsible for creating high-quality, integrated and certified engineering repair solutions for both metallic and non-metallic aircraft structures, collaborating with static stress and F&DT teams to meet airworthiness and customer needs. Duties include reviewing damage reports, developing repair concepts, creating or modifying repair tasks and technical documents (Repair Instructions, Repair Drawings, Technical Communications), and ensuring solutions return the aircraft to airworthiness within defined time scales. Work involves using Airbus computer-based applications to research configurations, communicate issues and solutions clearly, and potentially obtain a technical signatory for repair data. Travel up to 5% domestically and internationally. Required education is a BS in Engineering with emphasis on structural design; six years of design/analysis experience with airframe structures; experience with composite structures and MRB/MRO; strong skills in technical documentation and tools (CATIA V5 or 3DExperience, SRM/NTM/IPC). Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering (Aero, Civil, Mechanical) with emphasis on structural design and mechanics of materials
- Minimum six (6) years total experience in design/analysis with airframe structures
- Experience in composite airframe structures
- MRB/MRO/Fleet Engineering experience
- Knowledge of SRM, NTM, IPC and related documentation
- Strong computer skills including MS Excel and Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail)
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written)
- Ability to create and deliver technical documents and presentations
