Job Summary
Build and iterate prototypes using 3D modeling, simulation, and rapid prototyping tools to translate user problems into breakthrough product concepts. Generate and refine concepts in ambiguous spaces by performing engineering analysis to evaluate feasibility, performance, risk, and design tradeoffs. Translate field research into actionable insights while collaborating with product marketing, design research, and industrial design teams to push innovation boundaries. Define critical user benefits and technical feasibility for the next generation of tools. This role requires a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, 1-2 years of product development experience, and CAD/analysis tool proficiency. You will operate in a fast-paced environment with 10-20% travel, reporting to Front-End Innovation leadership at Milwaukee Tool.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Mechatronics, or related field
- 1-2 years of experience in product development, innovation, or concept engineering, with demonstrated ability to deliver innovative solutions
- Evolving foundation in engineering fundamentals (mechanics, materials, analysis, tolerancing, statics, dynamics, and manufacturing processes)
- Experience creating and using prototypes, models, or other tools to drive learning and decision-making
- Experience with CAD, Analysis Tools, 3D Printing, rapid prototyping methods, and office suite
- Ability to leverage strategy-level critical thinking skills with a growing understanding of supporting disciplines to ensure the right ideas move forward
- A curious, hands-on attitude driven by extreme ownership and bias toward action
- Ability to operate with speed, agility, and urgency in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment
- High interest in tools of trade and improving how they are employed
- Ability to travel 10-20% of the time (domestic and international)
