Design Engineer (Civil/Transportation)

Job Summary
Prepare design plans, specifications, and technical reports with minimal supervision, ensuring adherence to standards and planning considerations. Conduct field investigations and site assessments as needed, while acting as the company representative to clients and subcontractors. Negotiate scope changes, manage regulatory meetings, and oversee project execution plans including health and safety protocols. Monitor deliverables, establish program requirements, and lead technical teams through weekly status meetings and performance reviews. Mobilize resources to form effective project teams and report progress on milestones and cost impacts.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field
- 5 years of relevant engineering experience
- E.I.T. (Engineer-in-Training) certification
- P.E. license
- Marine Engineering
- Proficiency with AutoCAD
- Proficiency with Civil 3D
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in transportation or infrastructure design
- Familiarity with Rhode Island DOT (RIDOT) design standards and procedures
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
