Job Summary
Own design and development of automotive interior trim components from production release through start-of-production (SOP). Track assembly, functional testing, key dates, characteristics, and weight requirements to SOP. Lead engineering and design reviews to maintain open issues lists. Manage Tier II supplier liaisons and support manufacturing plants with design solutions for quality and assembly issues. Control Design Verification Plans and sign-off reports while initiating development testing and reporting results into the DVP&R. Mentor new product engineers and PE technicians in engineering and company responsibilities. Adhere to established work practices supporting compliance with safety standards, 5S practices, and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Design Engineer
- 10 years as a Designer
- Catia V5
- Solidworks
- Class A Surface
- Plastic Background (Injection molding, plastic design)
- 5+ yrs of Interior Trim
- 5-10 years of Automotive Headliner, sun visor design/experience
- HEAVY CAD USERS
- Bachelor of Science- Engineering degree (BSME Preferred)
- Minimum 5+ years of plastic part design
- automotive engineering experience (CAD design, Product Engineering and Change Management)
- 5 to 10 years' experience automotive sun visors or headliner
- Experience in tooling plastic components and processes
- Technical experience relating to design/diagnostics of mechanical system preferably in automotive industry
- Experience working with Windows operating system
- Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Understanding of Component Releasing, Change Control and Data management
- Understanding of DFMEA, (Lessons Learned documents)
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Desired Qualifications
- BSME Preferred
- Experience with CAD in NX 9.0 or CATIA V5 (preferred)
- Understanding of Component Releasing, Change Control and Data management is desired
- Understanding of DFMEA, (Lessons Learned documents)
