Job Summary
Analyze system requirements and interface with multi-disciplinary teams, customers, and vendors to discuss new projects. Modify existing hardware designs or create entirely new hardware to meet operational and performance needs. Prepare block diagrams, detailed circuit schematics, and manage PCB layouts. Perform analysis, simulation, and verification of analog and digital hardware and associated firmware. Develop test specifications, coordinate laboratory test equipment fabrication, and support manufacturing teams to release designs into production. Represent the employer at customer meetings to defend technical findings and evaluate products for repair or design modifications. Conduct root cause analysis for hardware and software components while investigating products based on requirements and capabilities.
Required Qualifications
- Thorough understanding of analog and digital hardware as applied to automotive control systems
- Understanding of EMC specifications and EMC mitigation techniques
- Understanding engineering analysis methods and interpreting the results to convey this information to others
- Previous use of MathCAD for Worst Case Analysis is desirable
- Proficient in setting up and using laboratory test equipment such as multi-meters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc
- English: fluent in written and verbal communication
- Communication protocols (CAN, LIN, RS-232, USB, SENT, Ethernet, SERDES)
- Use of Vector CAN toolchain is highly desirable
- Ability to read and make electrical schematics and engineering drawings
- Perform schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium Designer or equivalent tool chain
- Perform circuit analysis and simulation using LTSpice or similar SPICE based tools
- Programming and data acquisition experience using National Instruments Labview ecosystem
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Creative and self-motivated with the ability to understand and divide a vision into prioritized tasks
- Ability to resolve complex issues in creative, efficient, and effective ways
- Ability to work on challenging assignments with aggressive schedules
- BS/MS in electrical engineering with appropriate coursework focus
- 0 – 3 years of hands-on experience in automotive ECU design and development environment
- Required to sit or stand for long periods of time in industrial lab environment
- The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Dexterity of hands, fingers, and wrists to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other computer components
- Domestic and international may be required as needed up to 10%
- The candidate will occasionally need to travel to multiple global locations to support project development
- Working remotely is allowed but must be able to physically be present in the office/lab when duties dictate the need
Desired Qualifications
