Job Summary
Design Engineer 3 responsible for designing, prototyping, and testing firearms and related accessories; develop technical data packages with CAD models, 2D drawings, and manufacturing specifications; specify materials and coatings to meet design requirements; develop cost estimates and perform risk assessments for new designs; create and execute test procedures for new and existing product lines; provide technical support to sales and marketing; collaborate with manufacturing to develop cost-effective designs; design solutions to improve existing products; contribute to safety, 6S, quality, delivery, and productivity initiatives; demonstrate leadership in environmental health and safety principles; requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 4-7 years of experience and extensive SolidWorks (5+ years) experience, GD&T knowledge, and FEA capabilities; firearms design experience is a plus; strong teamwork, self-motivation, and effective communication with vendors, customers, and company officials.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 4-7 years of engineering experience
- Extensive experience (5+) in SolidWorks (3D)
- Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Ability to perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and interpret results
- Experience with firearms design and implementation a plus
- Ability to work in a team and communicate with internal/external stakeholders
- Self-starter able to work independently
