Job Summary
Design Engineer 1 on project teams responsible for performing design calculations, creating layout drawings for HVAC systems (ductwork, piping, electrical risers), selecting equipment with input from senior staff, producing design drawings, researching design options, and assisting with project documentation. Proficiency with Autodesk Revit and load-calculation software (IES VE, Trane TRACE 3D, Carrier HAP) and knowledge of applicable design codes are required, along with the ability to learn and develop through in-house seminars and ongoing training. The role reports to the Project Manager and involves collaboration with CAD designers and equipment suppliers, with a goal of delivering quality products on schedule. A Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is required, and a minimum of 2 years’ design experience at the Designer level or equivalent is specified; completion of the Engineering-in-training exam is encouraged.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years’ previous design experience at the Designer level or equivalent
- Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or equivalent
- Experience with Autodesk Revit and load calculation software such as IES VE, Trane TRACE 3D, or Carrier HAP
- Experience with IES VE is a plus
- Understanding of applicable design codes
- Continues learning process by attending in-house seminars and continuing education opportunities outside of the office
- Completion of the Engineering-in-training exam is encouraged
