Job Summary
Design/Drafting Associate Specialist at Southern California Edison creates precise CAD-based design drawings, diagrams, maps, and plans for utility distribution and telecommunication systems using CAD software. The role leverages geographic surveys, photogrammetry, and geospatial data to translate concepts into construction-ready designs, performs load flow, short circuit, and power quality analyses to validate electrical system designs, assists with work order costing and labor estimates, updates online service requests, and ensures designs comply with applicable standards and regulations. The position supports smaller-scale residential or small commercial projects, collaborates with planners, engineers, and customers, and involves hybrid work with a Santa Monica location as the primary site. It requires CAD drafting experience (or CAD certificate/equivalent coursework), familiarity with AutoCAD (preferred) and related visualization/drafting deliverables, and an ability to interpret field data and maintain data privacy and security standards.
Required Qualifications
- One or more years of experience in CAD drafting or completion of a CAD certificate (or equivalent CAD coursework)
