Job Summary
Lead seasonal trend meetings, present at buyer meetings, and shop global markets for color, material, and product opportunities. Design garments adhering to brand aesthetics and price parameters while managing overseas sample communications and attending all fittings to ensure quality. Build strong relationships with sales, production, and buyers; lead techpack execution and PLM maintenance using Adobe Illustrator. Monitor weekly sales reports to drive category evolution, determine styling and price structures, and manage staff training and budget for original purchases and samples.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years' design experience in Woman's Contemporary Apparel
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in the field of Design, Apparel Design, Technical Design, and full knowledge of total production timeline
- Strong leadership experience and management skills
- Proven track record of growing businesses, identifying trends, and delivering results
- Understanding of the marketplace and competitive landscape in off price, mass market and department stores
- Excellent presentation skills, demonstrating effective oral and written communication skills
- Strong sense of style, color and trend forecasting ability
- Thorough understanding of embellishment processes, costs, and characteristics
- Ability to generate graphics, illustrator sketches, initial specs and tech packs
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop & PLM
- Experience in denim, knits and woven
- Must be able to deliver compelling presentations with energy and positivity
- Must be able to adjust to buyer and licensor feedback quickly
- Must be detail oriented to manage two brands with feedback coming from different accounts, different sales teams and ensuring all items are approved by Licensor
