Job Summary
Design & Development Engineer responsible for analysis, design, and development of electronic products, delivering schematics, PCB designs, simulations, BOMs, and user manuals; supports full product lifecycle, design modifications, DFM/DfT, and collaboration with mechanical, software, manufacturing, and product management to align with roadmaps; contributes to risk management and project planning, while engaging with procurement for timely sourcing, and ensuring compliance with EMC, safety, and railway standards; offers mentorship, professional development, and potential career advancement within Unipart Rail & Tech; hybrid working in Southport, UK.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Electronics Engineering
- Expertise in analogue and digital electronic design
- Embedded software experience (PIC and C)
- Working knowledge of Engineering design systems (AutoCAD / Cadstar / eCadstar)
- Experience in product design lifecycle from concept to manufacturing
- Design office revision control and file management
- Experience in component obsolescence management
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to liaise with customers to understand technical requirements
- Strong customer focus
- Passion for innovative design solutions
- Excellent teamwork and IT literacy
