Design Coordination Lead

Job Summary

Take ownership of the Design Coordination function by assigning and prioritizing tasks based on project requirements, deadlines, and team capacity. Coordinate with Mechanical and Electrical Engineering teams to support the production, maintenance, and finalization of drawing sets and construction documentation. Review deliverables to ensure they meet established quality and drafting standards, while monitoring deadlines to guarantee timely completion. Participate in internal meetings to provide input on capacity and coordination processes. Train new staff on internal processes, drafting standards, and project documentation requirements, offering mentorship and technical support for CAD and Revit software proficiency. Maintain and improve drafting standards, manuals, and checklists to ensure consistent application across teams. Identify recurring coordination issues and develop practical process improvements to enhance workflow efficiency.

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma in Architectural Technology or a related program
  • 5–10 years of experience in design, drafting, and the administrative aspects of project delivery
  • Strong understanding of drawing production, drafting standards, and project documentation
  • Meticulous attention to detail with a strong commitment to accuracy, consistency, and organization
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also collaborating effectively with internal teams
  • Ability to provide clear, constructive feedback and technical guidance
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Bluebeam
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD
  • Professional and collaborative approach when working with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to represent SBM professionally and consistently

  • Location: London, Ontario
  • Position Type: Full-Time, In-Office
  • Standard 40-hour workweek runs 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday to Thursday, with an early finish at 2:30 p.m. on Fridays

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working with Mechanical and/or Electrical design teams is considered an asset
  • Experience with Revit is a strong asset
