Design & Construct (D&C) Estimator

Job Summary
Design & Construct (D&C) Estimator supports a commercial electrical contracting business by preparing accurate cost estimates and bills of quantities for electrical D&C projects. Key responsibilities include reviewing project briefs, PPRs, drawings and specifications to understand design intent; performing quantity take-offs using Groundplan; obtaining and comparing supplier and subcontractor quotations; assisting in preparing cost estimates and tender documentation; coordinating with the Estimating & Design Team in Australia to ensure accuracy; contributing to design coordination meetings and producing Groundplan drawings aligned with design briefs and client requests; providing administrative and quality-checking support during pre-construction; and supporting remote, Australia-based teams. Essential software includes Groundplan and Microsoft Excel; experience with SimPRO is advantageous.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years’ experience in electrical D&C estimating on commercial projects
- Proficiency in Groundplan for take-offs and measurements
- Strong communication skills and confidence using English
- Strong written and verbal English communication
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Proficient with Groundplan and Microsoft Excel (Advanced)
- Experience using SimPro (highly desirable)
- Familiarity with Australian building codes, commercial tendering processes, and D&C documentation standards
- Experience supporting remote, Australia-based teams
- Qualification or certification in Electrical, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or Engineering
- Education: Degree or diploma in Construction Management, Electrical Trade or Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field preferred
